Symposium on Ubiquitous Multimedia Service (UMS-08)

is organized in conjunction with the 2nd International Conference on Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering (MUE-2008), April 24 - 26, 2008, Hanwha Resort Haeundae, Busan, Korea.

Description

Ubiquitous Environments (UE) have received significant attention in the last few decades. UE enable to create a human-oriented computing environment where micro-computers are embedded in everyday objects and interact with physical world. With a great potential to revolutionize our lives, UE also poses new research challenges. One of the main challenges is Ubiquitous Multimedia Service (UMS), which provides the real-time multimedia services anytime, anywhere. Our special symposium will focus on the challenges and solutions for UMS. The symposium will provide an opportunity for academic and industry professionals to discuss the latest issues and progress in the area of UMS. The symposium will publish high quality papers which are closely related to the various theories and practical applications in the symposium. In addition, we expect that the symposium and its publications will be a trigger for further related research and technology improvements in this important subject.

Topics

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:
  • UMS BM (Business Model) and protocols
  • Intelligent Context-aware Schemes for UMS
  • Emerging Standards and Technologies for ubiquitous/wirless multimedia communications
  • UMS for Human Communication Interation
  • Security issues on UMS
  • Authentication, Authorization, Accounting in UMS
  • Content Protection and Digital Rights Management for UMS
  • QoS issues in UMS
  • Simulations on UMS

Organization

The Program committee consists of leading professionals in various fields of security and ubiquitous computing, from academia, industrial R&D institutes, Government organizations, etc.
