Call for Papers

Theme of the Workshop

A “ubiquitous networking” is a federated network technology which
supports various enablers such as 3G mobiles, RFID tags, sensors,
actuators, etc. On the ubiquitous networking environments, information
is explosively used for various kinds of purposes
(information-explosion:
http://www.infoplosion.nii.ac.jp/info-plosion/ctr.php/m/IndexEng/a/Index/).

The ubiquitous network has enough capability to deal with huge number
of IP packets generated from enablers. At the same time, a lot of
broadband contents are requested to be delivered with perfectly
controlled QoS. Efficient and scalable routing and transport mechanism
for supporting such various traffics are fundamental requirement on
the network.

?From a service perspective, a number of context or ambient aware
services are envisaged for “ubiquitous networking” in
“information-explosion era.” A service platform will manage and
create services based on the context. There should be discussions how
to collect and generate user context, how to create or synthesize
services efficiently, and how to develop such systems using emerging
software and hardware technologies. There could be also discussions
how to control network performance based on user policy or service
level agreement. Providing robust security over all ubiquitous
networks in a simple fashion is an important issue associated with
service provisioning to users. Keeping privacy in ubiquitous networks
is also a big issue.

The other important aspect is enablers or ubiquitous objects
themselves where users are commonly faced with. What is a suitable
design and implementation of such objects? How they could be connected
to a ubiquitous network to provide contexts or how could they
communicate with each other?

This workshop is one of the best opportunities to address this theme
in sufficient depth and breadth, and is intended to share knowledge
and exchange ideas, thereby promoting new studies and research topics
in this area.

We invite not only academic and industrial researchers but also
business persons, all who are interested in “ubiquitous networking”
and “information explosion.” Advancing technologies, reports on
research, reports or suggestions on business models and so on are
welcome.

Workshop Paper Submission: 	March 1, 2008
Workshop Paper Notification:	March 30, 2008
Workshop Final Manuscript:	May 1, 2008
Author Registration Due:	TBD
Workshop:			July 28 -- Aug. 1, 2008 (exact date is TBD)

Registration

Workshop registration will be handled by the SAINT 2008 organization
along with the main conference registration.

It is the IEEE policy that accepted papers can be published only when
IEEE recognized that at least one author has registered for
presentation. So, authors will be requested to register along with the
final manuscript.

Paper Submission

Papers should be sent to the Program Committee no later than March 1,
2008 via e-mail. The e-mail address is
“saint2008-ws-ubiq-nw[AT]lab.ntt.co.jp”. After a review process by
the Organizer and Program Committee of the Workshop, authors of
accepted papers will be requested to send its final manuscript to
IEEE-CS press no later than May 1, 2008. So, authors are kindly
requested to submit papers as early as possible to facilitate a review
process.

Papers and Author’s Kit

Workshop papers should be within 4 pages, no extra page is
allowed. The Proceedings of the Symposium and the Workshops will be
published, in separated volumes, by the IEEE Computer Society
Press. Please follow the instruction on the web below where authors

Please note that, according to the SAINT 2008 Organizing Committee,
the workshop is subject to cancel when the number of paper
presentations will not be enough.
