Call for Demo Proposals

The 10th International Conference on Mobile Data Management (MDM'09):
Systems, Services and Middleware
May 18-21 2009, Taipei, Taiwan
http://adslab.cs.nctu.edu.tw/mdm2009/

-------------------------------------------

The MDM 2009 Demo program aims to bring together both researchers and
practitioners from the data management and mobile computing
communities.

It offers an exciting and highly interactive way of demonstrating your
mobile databases, systems, services and middleware research and is an
excellent way of advertising the applicability of your results.
Proposals for demonstrations of products or prototypes based on
innovative research results are solicited.

It is mandatory that all demo proposals describe clearly what will be
demonstrated and how the contributions will be illustrated
interactively. Optionally, proposals can include a URL that shows a
preliminary version of the demo (e.g., screenshots or, even better, an
interactive program).

--------------------------------------------------
Areas:

MDM 2009 demo track will showcase leading edge work and work in
progress in every area of mobile and wireless disciplines. We are
especially interested in products or prototypes in the following
areas:

- Adaptability and stability of pervasive computing systems
- Context-aware computing and location-based services
- Data management in wireless networks
- Data management in sensor and mobile ad hoc networks
- Data management in mobile peer-to-peer networks
- Data mining for mobile applications
- Data presentation, scripting and exchange languages
- Data replication, migration and dissemination in mobile environments
- Data stream processing in mobile/sensor networks
- Indexing and query processing for moving objects
- Location and mobility semantics
- Location tracking of vehicles and moving objects
- Metadata management and exchanges
- Mobile access to the Web
- Mobile agents
- OS and middleware for mobile and pervasive computing
- Publish-subscribe approach in mobile computing
- Quality of service issues for data-intensive services
- Query processing and optimization for mobile users
- Resource advertising and discovery techniques
- Security and privacy issues for ubiquitous systems
- Theoretical foundations of data-intensive mobile computing
- Transactions and workflows in mobile environments
- User interfaces and usability issues form mobile applications

--------------------------------------------------
Submission:

All submitted demo proposals must be formatted according to the
instructions for submission format for research submissions and must
be no longer than two (2) pages. This page limit includes all parts
of the paper: title, authors and affiliation, abstract, body, and
bibliography. Accepted demo proposals will appear in the final
proceedings (subject to approval by the proceedings publisher).

Demos will be selected based on (i) the novelty of the demo, (ii) the
novelty and the technical quality of the underlying research, and
(iii) the attractiveness of the demonstrated system. Demo proposals
should be sent to the demo chairs:

Takahiro Hara (hara [at] ist.osaka-u.ac.jp) and
Hsiao-Kunag Wu (hsiao [at] csie.ncu.edu.tw).

Please note that for every accepted demo, it is required that at
least one person registers for the conference and presents the demo.

--------------------------------------------------
Cover letter:

The authors must prepare the cover letter that contain (a) demo title,
(b) authors and affiliation, (c) total demo cycle time, (d) resource
requirements, (e) demo objectives (abstract).

The cover letter should be plain text in the body of the submission
e-mail.

--------------------------------------------------
Important Dates:

Proposal must be submitted by:
